For a Clinical, Counselling or Educational psychologist to be practicing in South Africa, he or she needs to be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Board of Healthcare Funders to get a practice number.� Registration at the Practice Code Numbering System enables him or her to claim directly from your medical aid. The psychologists at our practice are all registered at the above mentioned organizations. Johan, Karlien, Amorie and Ilze are registered at these institutions.
If you are not certain or if you do not see the registration certificate in the practice or on the business cards of the psychologist, feel free to ask. Remember that you always have the right to let your voice be heard.
This purely depends on who you will feel more comfortable with. If you are uncertain and need more guidance who you need to make an appointment with, you are welcome to phone our rooms and talk to one of our psychologists. A general guideline may be to look at relationships in your life and people of authority and becoming aware who you identify with better. It is also important to take this into account when making an appointment for both you and your spouse, in the case of couples or marriage counseling.� Remain sensitive to the needs and likes of your spouse, especially when you need buy-inn from him/her.
Yes you can! Card payments or Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT) are also very safe, cheaper and the preferred method of payment. We do have credit and debit card facilities.� You can however also pay cash for the session. �The individual practices are all contracted out which means that you have to pay for your session directly after the session. �You will be provided with a statement that you can send in to your medical aid for a refund. �This way you will always be in control of your spend and know exactly what the fund available for psychology would be. �There is a small fee that most medical funds pay short on the amount we charge and you are welcome to phone the office and ask Joanien for more information regarding payments.

The fee for 2019� for the standard 51-60 min session is R1100. �Our psychologists are contracted out which means that you will have to pay for each session after the session �and will be provided with a statement you can send to your medical fund for reimbursement. �For hospital visits, we charge the medical fund fees plus 50% modifier extra as suggested by the medical funds. We suggest that you prepare yourself for a few sessions and believe that you yourself will know when you are ready to terminate therapy. We will also give you guidance during your process. A therapy session at our rooms usually has a duration of between 51-60 minutes. We also do consultations at most major hospitals in and around Pretoria when a patient is admitted in a hospital and is in need of psychotherapy or support �while being admitted. These sessions can be shorter, depending on the circumstances.
You just phone our consulting rooms and make an appointment. It is not necessary to be formally referred by a doctor. Our secretary will help you to find a time that will suit you best and arrange the session with you. She will also give you directions on how to get to our rooms. At our rooms you will be asked to fill out a form which will include general contact information and medical aid details.
As we also provide therapy whilst you are admitted in hospital, we can also see you during your hospitalization. To enable us to see you for coping with the effects of the medical procedure or help deal with anxiety of stress before or after the procedure, ask your doctor to phone us to make an arrangement to see you in hospital. These sessions are normally covered by your medical aid as part of treatment during hospitalization. The suggested fees for sessions in hospital and after hours are higher. It is thus important to make sure about the limitations of your medical aid.
